EVANSVILLE— With an eye on building a stronger, more connected Indiana Democratic Party, Derek Camp announced today that Melissa Morehead Moore will join his ticket as his choice for vice chair.
Morehead Moore, a longtime advocate for Hoosier communities, brings decades of experience in grassroots organizing, public engagement, and party-building efforts to the ticket. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, she was elected to the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. Board of Trustees in 2022 and currently serves as its secretary.
As leaders from two of Indiana’s most successful county parties, Camp and Morehead Moore bring the experience, strategy, and momentum needed to hit the ground running on day one.
“I’ve always believed the Democratic Party is at its best when we listen to people, fight for them, and build a future that includes everybody,” Camp said. “Melissa embodies that spirit. Melissa Moorehead is deeply committed to growing the party at every level, ensuring that no community—big or small—is left behind. A longtime community volunteer, she is the secretary of the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party and a member of the Hoosier Women Forward Class of 2021-2022. She’s focused on expanding outreach, supporting candidates, and ensuring that the Indiana Democratic Party is a force to be reckoned with.
