Nina Blanche Newlin Lewis, 103, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, surrounded by family at home in Paoli.
She was born on September 26, 1921, to William Walter Newlin and Ada Jane Hall Newlin in Paoli. She married Clifford Boyd Lewis on June 12, 1938, and he preceded her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Neva Wheeler and Mabel Clements, infant son William Lewis, brothers Merle, Paul, and Moris Newlin, son-in-law Mike Cooper, grandson Bobby Jones, and four great-granddaughters.
Nina was the oldest member of the oldest church in Orange County, The Lick Creek Friends Meeting. She was also a member of the Orange County Home Makers and Orange County Farm Bureau. She was not only a homemaker taking care of her family, but she also helped her husband with their family farm. She would sell milk and eggs and loved gardening. Nina made home-made biscuits and gravy daily at the farmhouse on her old cook stove. She was also a very well-known seamstress, making quilts and aprons. Making the aprons was her call from God.
Survivors include one son, Fred I. (Pamela) Lewis of Oolitic; three daughters, Edith Carol (Roy) Fenwick, of Floyds Knobs, Rosemary (Ray) Trinkle, of Paoli, and Aletha F. Cooper, of French Lick; nine grandchildren, Ricky Jones, Linda Hutslar, Shelley May, Lisa Recker, Shawn King, Matt Cooper, Joshua Lewis, Lindsay Lewis, and Audrey Lewis; nine great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Eastview Baptist Church in Paoli (Eastview Baptist Church: 969 E. St. Rd. 56 – Paoli, IN 47454): Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, at Eastview Baptist Church in Paoli. Interment will be at Syria Christian Church Cemetery (Syria Christian Church: 2444 N. Co. Rd. 300 E. – Orleans, IN 47452) immediately following the funeral service.
