William ‘Bill’ E. Green went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
He was the son of William Robert and Nellie Rosetta(Harvey) Green. He had owned Bedford Tire & Alignment and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Since serving with Delta Company 1st 501st of 101st Airborne Division 1 Corp from 1969-1971 with active duty in the Vietnam War, he had been battling acute myeloid leukemia related to Agent Orange exposure since 2023. He was honorably discharged with the rank of E5 Sargent. Bill was awarded the CIB(combat infantry badge, air medal, good conduct medal, Vietnam service medal with two bronze service stars, Bronze star, National Defense medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, and Vietnamese Cross of gallantry. He was a member of the V.F.W Post #2953 in Evansville and a lifetime member of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam.
Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He was the proudest and best Pap in the entire world. He loved playing Monopoly with his “Mean Boy” grandson, Maverick, and watching him play basketball. He helped his grand-baby girl, “Punk” Savanah, follow her dream of becoming a pilot and taught her how to drive and maintain her car during COVID-19, amongst many other things. Pap spent countless hours playing, vacationing, teaching, and loving his grandkids. He loved his kids and grandkids more than anyone could fathom.
Bill enjoyed sitting in lawn chairs outside at the Eagle’s Nest at his daughter’s home in Springville while shooting the breeze and eating peanuts. He was an ambassador of kindness, incredible wit, and a sense of humor. He constantly got fudge from Uranus and gave it to friends and random people to “show a little kindness.” He had tons of crazy sayings, many of which wouldn’t be appropriate to share here but would sure make you laugh. He repeatedly approached anyone wearing any Vietnam or military shirts/hats and struck up conversations no matter where he was. He lovingly handed out challenge coins to anyone who showed compassion and kindness to him as a token of appreciation and respect. He had a way about himself that made everyone around him happy, and he always found joy in the things that truly matter in life.
The loss of my Daddy has and will continue to leave a ginormous hole in countless hearts. Rest assured, he loved you fiercely if you were one of his people.
