Kenneth Emanual ‘Old Dad’ Hack

March 29, 1930 – February 25, 2025

Kenneth Emanual “Old Dad” Hack, 94, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Indiana University Health Hospice House.

Born March 29, 1930, in Mitchell, he was the son of William McKinley and Leila Mae (Mustain) Hack.  He married Carolyn Sue Dalton on June 7, 1958, and she preceded him in death on October 27, 2011.

Kenny was a 1951 graduate of Mitchell High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post No. 250.  He was the Past Master of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M.  Kenny was a machine shop supervisor at Crane NSWC for the Department of the Army for over 27 years.  He was a member of the Mitchell First Church of God, and his hobbies included woodworking and mowing his yard.  Kenny loved his family and his neighbors, and he always had a smile on his face.

Surviving are his children, Lisa Irene (Jim) Sanders of Shoals, William Kevin (Julia) Hack of Mitchell, Lori Lynn Hack of Mitchell, and Anthony Joe Hack of Bedford; grandchildren, Natalie (Jason) Cotton, Brandon Hack, Megan Young, Scott Sanders, and Kelly Sanders; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Hack, Jakob Hack, Maisa Cotton, Christian Cotton, Zeke Cotton, Lucas (Hannah Harshaw) Sanders, Conner Rascoe, Emma Rascoe, and Kirstie Rascoe; special nephew, Kinley Hack of Bedford; and several other nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, daughter, Susan Kay Johnson, and siblings, Ralph Hack, Frank Hack, Gladys Fender, and Wanda Albertson, preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Brad Rainey officiating.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
