Major drug bust in Columbus leads to three arrests

COLUMBUS — A significant drug bust in Columbus on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of over 50 grams of methamphetamine, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Wednesday news release.

Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of 22nd Street, with members of the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET), Columbus Police Department officers, and Bartholomew County deputies all participating in the operation.

During the search, investigators discovered over 50 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, and more than $2,700 in cash. Law enforcement officials also found three firearms and other evidence indicating drug dealing activity within the home.

Three individuals were present during the raid: Timothy Perry, 63, Michael Coffey, 35, both of Columbus, and Anna Arney. All three were taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Perry remains in custody under a 72-hour hold and faces preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

Coffey is also being held on a 72-hour hold and faces preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance.

Arney remains in custody on a $3,500 bond and faces a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
