Judy Kay (Fox) Callahan of Bedford passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia. Judy was a two-time cancer survivor and valiantly fought the aphasia disease with her husband, John, by her side.
Born March 3, 1941, in Palmyra, Indiana, Judy was the daughter of Lawrence and Martha (Blevins) Fox. Judy was married to John W. Callahan on September 1, 1959, and he survives. Judy worked at Visteon for 34 years before retiring. On November 5, 2017, Judy was baptized at Bedford First Church of God.
Judy loved providing for her family and spoiling her grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for her family. Judy was a giver. She was a great cook, an amazing baker and an enthusiastic decorator. She loved preparing meals, baking treats and decorating her house for the enjoyment of others. When someone stopped her in Walmart and complimented her holiday porch decorations, you made her day. Thank you! Who wouldn’t love to have some of her cookies: holiday double doozie, chocolate chip or oatmeal scotchie, or her brownies: chocolate with nuts or oreo. Or who wouldn’t love to drive down Washington Avenue and see her porch all decorated. She was an awesome cook, baker, uniform cleaner, shoe whitener, sewer, porch decorator, crossword puzzler, bingo and video poker player and much, much more. Prior to being diagnosed with aphasia, Judy could complete the entire Indianapolis Star crossword puzzle on most days.
Survivors include (2) sons, Scott Callahan and wife Stacey of Bedford, and Jeff Callahan and wife Paige of Bedford; (5) grandchildren: Jordan Callahan and wife Kristen of Westminster, Colorado, Calvin Callahan and wife Rebekah of Bedford, Brandt Callahan and wife Bailee of Nashville, Tennessee, Whitt Callahan, and Merritt Callahan, and (1) great granddaughter, Hazel Callahan; 7 half-siblings, George Fox, Juanita Greene, Joe Fox, Linda Cromwell, Vickie McPherson, Debbie Hall and Richard Scofield. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, James Fox, Pansy (Fox) Dawson, Freida (Fox) Gratzer, Kathrine (Fox) Wicker, Charles “Tom” Fox and Jerry Fox and 3 half-siblings Freida Anderson, Patty Brothers and Sue Longest.
