BEDFORD– A female student at Bedford North Lawrence High School is facing juvenile delinquency charges following a physical altercation that occurred in the school cafeteria on Monday, March 3, 2025.
According to a report filed by Captain Drew Lemke of the Bedford Police Department, officers responded to a battery report that occurred earlier that day at the high school at 595 Stars Boulevard.

The female victim, whose name is being withheld, reported being “blindsided” and attacked by another 16-year-old female student. The victim stated that she was walking through the cafeteria when she was allegedly struck multiple times in the head and then “body slammed” to the ground. The victim reported pain and redness to the left side of her face, eye, and back.
Officers observed and photographed red marks on the victim’s face. The victim’s guardian also obtained a medical release.
A review of the school surveillance video confirmed the victim’s account. The footage allegedly shows the 16-year-old approaching the female victim and initiating the physical assault. The video also shows the 16-year-old female lifting the victim and taking her to the ground. An adult staff member broke up the altercation.
The victim stated that the assault stemmed from a personal dispute involving a recent breakup with the accused female]’s brother, with her accusing the victim of infidelity.
Officer Blackwell located the accused female at BNL and transported her to the police department for processing. The victim’s guardian was contacted and arrived at the station. Lawrence County Probation Officer Katie Messman was also notified, and a summons to appear in juvenile court on Wednesday, March 5, was served to the accused attacker and her guardian. She was released to her guardian.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
