LAWRENCE CO. – In a move to enhance community safety and strengthen support for vital programs, Lawrence County Community Corrections Director Chad Shew sought and received approval from the County Commissioners to apply for a series of grants.

The grants, due by April 11th, will support various initiatives, including Drug Court, Community Corrections, Domestic Violence Court, and the ADAPT program.
The initiative reflects a strategy to shift public resources away from mass incarceration and towards investments in families and communities to foster long-term improvements in public safety.
According to officials, the Community Corrections Department’s programs have already generated significant taxpayer savings. The additional grant funding will allow for further expansion and enhancement of these programs, providing increased support for individuals seeking rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
The successful acquisition of these grants will enable Lawrence County to strengthen its commitment to community-based solutions to address issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and criminal justice reform.
