Lawrence County Highway crews busy preparing for paving season

BEDFORD— Lawrence County residents can expect increased activity from highway crews as the county gears up for the upcoming paving season.

Lawrence County Highway Director Brian Sowder informed the County Commissioners Tuesday morning that crews are engaged in essential preparatory work.

This includes:

  • Cleaning and repairing ditches: Ensuring proper drainage along roadways.
  • Replacing and repairing culvert pipes: Maintaining the integrity of water flow systems.

These efforts are crucial to ensure that the county’s roads are in optimal paving condition and prevent potential issues such as flooding and erosion.

The highway department’s proactive approach signals a commitment to maintaining and improving the county’s infrastructure to benefit residents and travelers. Residents can anticipate further updates on specific paving projects and schedules as the weather warms.
