Entries for the 2025 Orleans Dogwood Festival Photo Contest accepted through April 19

ORLEANS- Calling all photographers!  It’s time to enter the 2025 Orleans Dogwood Festival Photo Contest!

There are 3 skill levels to choose from for your entry or entries:

Amateur/beginner – If you are just getting started in photography and use your cell phone camera or a simple point and shoot camera, do little to no editing, take photos for fun, this is the category for you.

Intermediate – If you are comfortable with your photography, but do not consider yourself a pro, take photos for fun, occasionally share/sell your images, use intermediate equipment, edit images, this level is for you.

Advanced – If you are very comfortable with your photography and/or have your own photography business that brings you some income or exposure, and/or have your own website/watermark, use advanced photography equipment, and editing skills, this is the level for you.

It will be entirely up to you which level to choose to submit photos to, but please be honest and accurate with your work.  They welcome all levels of talent, and are attempting to get as many entries as they can for each level.

The subjects of your photos can be of your choice.  In each of the three entry levels, there will be a first, second, and third place award given.   There will also be a Pride of Orleans award given to the photograph that best portrays our hometown.

The last day for entries will be Friday, April 19th.  Photos, and $1 entry fee per photograph, can be dropped off at the Orleans Town Hall, Monday – Friday, from 9 am – 4 pm.  Please contact chair Gretchen Nelson if you need to schedule a different time for drop off.  Photos can then be picked up from Unity Hall on Saturday, April 26, after the conclusion of the silent auction or at the Town Hall the week following the festival.  Photos must be picked up the following week.

Non-biased out of town judges will rate the photos based on several attributes.

Photos will be on display at Unity Hall in conjunction with the Silent Auction beginning Thursday, April 24.

The contest is for Orleans/surrounding township residents only.

Entries should be limited to no more than 5 photographs per person, and photos may only be submitted to one entry level.

It will be assumed with any photo of a person that you, as the photographer, have been given permission by the subject to submit your photo.  Please be responsible!

All photos must be no smaller than 5 x 7 and must be matted or framed.  Entries must include the name and telephone number of the photographer, as well as the level of choice for judging.  This can be done with a sticky note on the back of the frame or mat.

Please don’t submit a photo unless you are the photographer.

All questions should be submitted to the contest chair, Gretchen Nelson, by email at dgnelson4@gmail.com.
