INDIANA – Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) has issued a safety recall for certain Blizzak 6 tires, size 235/40R19, due to a critical manufacturing error. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced Recall ID Number 25T003, detailing the issue.
The recall stems from the discovery that the DOT certification symbol is missing from the sidewalls of the affected tires. This omission means the tires fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”
According to the NHTSA, tires lacking the DOT symbol may be used in applications for which they are not designed, significantly increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The DOT symbol is a crucial indicator of a tire’s compliance with federal safety standards. Without it, consumers cannot be assured of the tire’s performance and safety characteristics.”
Bridgestone will address the issue by replacing the affected tires free of charge at authorized dealers. Owner notification letters will be mailed out on May 9, 2025.
