City of Bloomington Utilities issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for four addresses

BLOOMINGTON—On Tuesday, March 18, City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) crews will repair a broken water main on East University Street. Four addresses will be out of water service starting at approximately 10:00 a.m. and restored later that same day. After that, these addresses will be under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, unless otherwise notified.

Please find specific addresses and more information at bloomington.in.gov/utilities.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) requires all public water systems to issue a precautionary Boil Water Advisory when the pressure drops below 20 psi in the water main. Those affected should follow these instructions:

  • Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
  • Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes before consumption.
  • It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.

Affected customers with up-to-date contact information with CBU Customer Service were alerted directly. Customers can use the form at bton.in/cbu24 to update their contact information electronically.
