INDIANA— Gutwein Law, a full-service business law firm focused on helping innovative companies grow through high-level legal counsel, has added Eric A. Koch to its team. He brings over 35 years of experience in corporate law, real estate law, estate planning, and commercial litigation. Before joining Gutwein Law, Koch was the Managing Partner of The Koch Law Firm, located in Bloomington and Bedford.

“I am thrilled to join this innovative firm,” says Koch. “I’m looking forward to bringing my diverse experience and client base to an already extraordinary law firm. This move allows me to continue offering high-quality legal counsel, now with the added support, resources, and depth of Gutwein Law’s skilled team.”
Koch served in the Indiana House of Representatives in 2002 before being elected to the Indiana State Senate in 2016. He currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Utilities Committee, Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce & Technology Committees, and member of the Senate Corrections & Criminal Law Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
“Eric is a fantastic addition to our growing firm,” says Stuart Gutwein, Managing Partner at Gutwein Law. “His impressive resume and track record – both as an attorney and public servant – is invaluable to our clients and team. We are grateful to have him on board.”
Koch obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University before earning his J.D. at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. He is a registered civil mediator and has also received an Energy Policy Planning certification and a Community Bank Director certification.
In addition to the roles mentioned above, Koch is a nationally recognized leader in energy policy. He served as co-chairman of the Energy Supply Task Force of the National Conference of State Legislatures and as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Council on Electricity Policy.
He also represents Indiana as a Commissioner on the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and is a member of the Indiana Supreme Court’s Commercial Courts Committee, where he provides guidance to Indiana’s Commercial Courts. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of Mid-Southern Savings Bank, FSB, and its holding company, Mid-Southern Bancorp, Inc.
