
ST. JOSEPH CO. – The Indiana State Police has been requested to investigate the death of an inmate at the St. Joseph County Jail. The Indiana State Police were contacted early Saturday morning on March 15, 2025.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 1:40 a.m., jail staff were alerted by an inmate that another inmate was suffering from an unknown medical distress in a cell. Jail staff immediately began lifesaving measures until South Bend Fire arrived.
Despite lifesaving measures, the inmate, Jordan Sanders, 32, of South Bend, was pronounced deceased at the jail.
An autopsy, including toxicology, is scheduled to be performed on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.
The family of Sanders has been notified.
