MARTINSVILLE – Brittany Fortinberry, 31, a former substitute teacher for Martinsville Schools, now faces significantly expanded charges of child sexual abuse.

New court documents reveal 10 additional counts of child molestation, eight counts of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor. These charges are in addition to previous counts of sexual misconduct, dissemination of harmful material, and contributing to delinquency.
The investigation, prompted by the Department of Child Services, uncovered further alleged victims following Fortinberry’s initial arrest. She is accused of maintaining contact with minors via Snapchat, sending explicit videos, and providing them with illegal substances. Allegedly, Fortinberry coerced some victims into watching sexual acts involving other minors and paid others for explicit videos. She and her husband are also accused of threatening victims to maintain their silence. Fortinberry, who resigned from Martinsville Schools in January, previously taught at Eminence High School. She is scheduled for a jury trial on June 25 in Morgan Superior Court 3.
