VALLONIA— The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department issued a public safety notice Wednesday afternoon after an inmate from Edinburgh Correctional Facility walked away from a work detail near Vallonia Tree Nursery.

Michael D. Anderson, a 5-foot-8-inch, 184-pound light-skinned Black male, was last seen at approximately 1:55 p.m. in the Starve Hollow area, authorities said. Anderson has black hair, brown eyes, and multiple distinctive tattoos, including a rose on his right hand, a royal crown on his right arm, and a Chicago Bulls logo on his left leg.
At the time of his disappearance, Anderson was wearing a yellow shirt, yellow pants, a Carhartt-style jacket, and an orange hat. However, the sheriff’s department noted that he may have changed into “long john” style underwear instead of the yellow clothing.
While authorities do not believe Anderson poses a threat to the public, residents in the area are advised to lock their doors as a precaution.
Anyone who sees Anderson or has information about his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
