HENRY CO. – A short vehicle pursuit ended in an arrest this morning after an orange Harley Davidson motorcycle fled from Indiana State Police troopers on U.S. 40 near Dunreith.
At approximately 10:30 am, Master Trooper Eric Downey attempted to stop the motorcycle for a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated, leading troopers on a four-minute pursuit before crashing the motorcycle.
Troopers quickly performed a high-risk felony stop, taking the suspect into custody without further incident. The driver, identified as Chase Ryan Vaughn, 21, of New Castle, was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail, on charges of resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
Indiana State Police reminds motorists that fleeing from law enforcement only escalates the situation and increases the risk to everyone on the road. If you see emergency lights behind you, pull over safely and comply with law enforcement.
Several troopers from the Pendleton District and Davis Towing assisted Trooper Eric Downey with this investigation.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
