Jimmy ‘Jim’ Burton Peters, 87, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:54 a.m., surrounded by his family.
Born March 30, 1937, in Mercedes, TX, he was the son of Malvin “Pete” Peters and Alta Baker Peters. Jim was a lifelong cowboy and rancher, spending most of his life in Texas and New Mexico. He spent much of his younger years in the rodeo circuit riding bulls, finance, and real estate. Later, he became a carpenter and maintenance worker. Jim loved working with horses and going to the horse racetracks and the casinos. But most of all, he loved his family dearly, and being able to spend time with those he loved, he was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his children, Dwain (Dee) Peters of Oolitic, Dana Peters of Nashville, IN, Kyle (Emily) Peters of Rowley, Massachusetts, and Jamie (Bill) Adams of Bedford; grandchildren Alison (Ryan) Johnson, Haley (Sam) Blankenhorn, Jay Peters, Ryan Hayes, Reilly Peters, Garrett (Haley) McLaughlin, Jared Wells, and Will Adams; sister Paula Peters Daniels; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, M.T. Peters Sr. and Alma Lee Jones Peters, and his sister, Barbara Peters Laritz.
