LAWRENCE CO. – In Lawrence County, two Indianapolis women were arrested following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning, March 18th. According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Deputy Augustus Hogan of the Lawrence County Police Department, the incident began at approximately 12:45 a.m. Deputy Hogan initiated a southbound traffic stop on State Road 37 and Old State Road 37 for a vehicle with an inoperable plate light.

During the stop, Deputy Hogan and Sgt. Deputy Daugherty-Anderson spoke with the vehicle’s occupants, Price (driver) and Glass (passenger). Deputies noted inconsistencies in their stories and observed signs of nervousness, leading them to suspect drug activity. Deputy Rhoades and his K9 unit were called to the scene.

The dog alerted officers to narcotics on the driver’s side of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of marijuana in Glass’s wallet, which she admitted was hers. Further searching revealed a Springfield Hellcat 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine containing 13 rounds located behind the glove box. Both Price and Glass denied knowledge of the firearm.

Price was arrested at the scene for possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. A background check revealed a prior felony conviction for battery as a level 5 felony in Hamilton County. Glass was issued a summons to appear in court for possession of marijuana.

The marijuana, weighing 0.55 ounces, and the firearm were seized as evidence. Price was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, while Glass was given a courtesy ride to a local gas station.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
