LAWRENCE CO.– A Williams man is in custody following an alleged domestic battery incident involving a 16-year-old male, according to an affidavit for probable cause released by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

William King, 58, of Williams, was arrested on March 23, 2025, and charged with domestic battery with a prior conviction, a Level 6 Felony.
According to the affidavit filed by Sgt. Robin Compton Jr., Lawrence County Central Dispatch, received a call at approximately 2:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, from a woman reporting a physical altercation between her boyfriend, William King, and a teenage male. The caller stated that King had left the residence in a black Dodge truck.
Officer Davis Miller located King at the Williams Dam boat ramp and detained him. Sgt. Compton arrived on the scene, and Officer Miller advised that King refused to answer questions after being read his Miranda rights.
Sgt. Compton then proceeded to the victim’s residence, where the teen detailed the alleged incident. The teen stated that an initial verbal altercation between the woman and King escalated after King returned to the residence. The teen alleged that King placed his hands around his neck and shoved him onto a couch. When the female intervened, King struck the male teen twice in the face with his fist.
Both the female and the teen indicated they wished to pursue charges. Sgt. Compton obtained a signed battery affidavit from both and photographed the teen’s injuries.
King was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center without incident.
The arrest does not indicate guilt. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
