
MOUNT VERNON— The Consolidated Grain and Barge Company in Mount Vernon, Indiana, will hold a workshop on May 8, 2025, to prevent grain dust explosions.
The workshop, titled “Grain Dust Explosion Prevention,” is organized by Purdue Extension-Posey County and will be conducted by Professor Kingsly Ambrose from Purdue University’s Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
Grain dust explosions are a serious hazard in grain handling facilities. The workshop will focus on educating participants about the dangers of grain dust and providing them with the knowledge and tools to prevent or minimize the risk of explosions.
The event will occur from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST at the Consolidated Grain and Barge Company, located at 2701 Bluff Road.

The workshop is open to the public, but anyone under 18 must accompany a parent or adult.
