Grills to blaze at Washington’s Great Washingtonian Smoke Off

WASHINGTON – Get ready for the tantalizing aroma of barbecue as Washington’s annual Great Washingtonian Smoke Off returns to Eastside Park on May 2nd and 3rd. The highly anticipated event will showcase the region’s top pitmasters competing for culinary supremacy and cash prizes.

This year’s competition will feature a fierce showdown in ribs, pulled pork, turkey, and the coveted People’s Choice Award. It will also include a special mystery cook challenge to test the chefs’ creativity. With a total prize pool of $1,850, the Smoke Off promises a sizzling contest.

Category winners will receive plaques and cash prizes, with $150 awarded to first-place winners in each category. The People’s Choice Award winner will take home $250. The ultimate title of Overall Grand Champion, determined by combined scores, will come with a trophy and a grand prize of $1,000.

Attendees can join the flavorful action by purchasing $5 sample plates of mouthwatering pulled pork and casting their votes for the People’s Choice winner.

The competition is limited to 15 teams and requires a $50 entry donation. Meat will be provided to all participants, and the cooking window will run from 10 PM on May 2nd to 10 AM on May 3rd. The awards presentation is scheduled for approximately 1:30 PM on May 3rd.
