BEDFORD, IN – Lawrence County will commemorate Memorial Day with a program honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.
The commissioners approved the event on Tuesday morning. It will take place on the courthouse lawn on Monday, May 26th, at 10 a.m.
The program will feature guest speakers, a 21-gun salute, the posting of colors, and the laying of a wreath, all dedicated to remembering and honoring those who died while defending the nation.

“Memorial Day is a tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags, but in reality, Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have died while defending our country,” said veteran Steve Warren, emphasizing the solemn significance of the day.
The event provides an opportunity for the community to come together and reflect on the profound sacrifices made by American service members. “It’s a time for us to pause and remember the true cost of freedom,” said Warren.
In the event of rain, the program will be moved inside the courthouse. Residents are encouraged to attend and pay tribute to the fallen heroes who have given their lives for their country.
