SPENCER—McCormick’s Creek State Park has announced an extension to its downed tree removal program, allowing the public to collect firewood until May 2nd.

The park allows individuals to cut up and remove specific downed trees for personal use. A permit is required for each pickup truck load, and the fee is $10 per load.
Permits can be obtained at the park’s office at 250 McCormick’s Creek Park Road in Spencer between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Wood-cutting and removal are also restricted to these hours.
It is important to note that the firewood collected is intended for personal use only and cannot be sold.
This extended period provides an excellent opportunity for residents to gather firewood while helping the park manage downed trees.
