August 9, 1980 – March 23, 2025
Erica Lea Lewis, 44, of Bloomington, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Born August 9, 1980, in Bedford, Erica was the charismatic daughter of Susan Kay (Briscoe) Hughett and Hilliard Wayne King. She fiercely loved her family and had a talent for making anyone and everyone her friend.
Erica worked incredibly hard to be the first in her family to earn a master’s degree, and her family was infinitely proud of her when she conquered that mountain. She was a therapist by trade. Even when she was young, she was everyone’s listening ear and advice-giver. Nothing ever changed with that. What she was born to do, however, was be a mother. She became everything she was meant to be when her son Maxwell was born. She loved that boy with everything in her, and there are no doubts she will continue to do so from her side of the sky.
She married Anthony Lewis on August 9, 2008, and that decision was one of the best she ever made, which she took so much pride in. Her husband was her partner in everything, which was made extremely apparent when she fell ill. He was by her side through everything and provided exponential care and love to her. It did not go unnoticed, and their love for each other was palpable.
Aside from her husband and son, Erica had an unmatched love for Jesus. Her faith never faltered, even through all the struggles she had faced over the years. There is peace in knowing she is with him now, in no more pain, and dancing around in the silliest way possible because that is who she was.
Erica is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Anthony Lewis; son, Maxwell Lewis; sisters, Hilliary (Robert) Lee and Brittany Hughett; best friend/brother, Nick (Merry) Pridemore; nephews, Shawn, Johnny, and Daley; nieces, Kaylea, Maddie, and Everleigh; cousin, Keli, whom she was very fond of; her step dad, Brian Hughett, who remained a consistent and supportive figure in her life; several aunts and uncles; and more friends than anyone can count.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Hughett; father, Hilliard King; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandparents.
The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, in Mitchell Cemetery, with Pastor Al Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
