INDIANA – Educators across Indiana have the opportunity to provide their K-12 students with enriching outdoor learning experiences through the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation’s (INRF) Discover the Outdoors field trip grant program.
The INRF offers financial assistance to schools planning field trips to Indiana State Parks properties during the 2025-2026 school year. These grants aim to reduce the financial burden on schools and students, making state park visits more accessible.
The grant program is open to all K-12 educators in Indiana. Interested teachers can apply for funding to cover transportation, entrance fees, and other related expenses associated with their state park field trips.
Applicants will be notified by May 15 regarding potential grant awards. The grant application is at on.IN.gov/state-park-group-programs. Read more about the impact this grant has had at indiananrf.org/the-inrf-difference/education.
Applications must be postmarked or emailed no later than April 30.
“These trips help children understand the significance and diversity of Indiana’s natural and cultural resources, and at the same time lets them make great memories that they will carry into adulthood,” said Ginger Murphy, deputy director for stewardship for DNR State Parks.
Since its launch in 2013, the Discover the Outdoors program has awarded 287 grants, enabling over 25,200 students to explore Indiana’s natural wonders at a reduced cost.

Every student should have the chance to experience Indiana’s state parks’ beauty and educational value. These grants help make that a reality, fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting environmental stewardship.
Educators are encouraged to visit the INRF website for more information on the Discover the Outdoors field trip grant program, including application details and deadlines.
The INRF accepts donations to the fund from individuals, businesses, and anyone else who supports the idea of getting kids outdoors. The fund was established in memory of Tom Huck, a longtime DNR employee who ardently supported outdoor experiences for children. Donations can be made at indiananrf.org/donate.
