New Hampshire man arrested for promotion of child sexual trafficking

MADISON CO. – An investigation initiated by the Indiana State Police has led to the arrest of a New Hampshire man on charges related to the promotion of child sexual trafficking after he solicited nude photos from a juvenile in exchange for money.

The suspect, Dominic William Mudgett, 21, of Boscawen, New Hampshire,  allegedly contacted the juvenile through social media applications, offering payment in return for the explicit images.  Indiana State Police was notified of the incident on October 23rd, 2024. After the five-month investigation, Detectives identified Mudgett, and the Merrimack County Prosecutor’s Office issued search warrants for his vehicle and residence based on information received from the Indiana State Police’s investigation.  On March 18th, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Department (NH), with the assistance of the Indiana State Police Detectives, arrested Mudgett near his residence in Boscawen without incident.

Madison County (IN) Chief Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Hanna stated, “We will continue to work with law enforcement to ensure that justice is served for victims of sex crimes, no matter where the perpetrator is located”. 

Mudgett is currently being held at the Merrimack County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Indiana on three counts of promotion of child sexual trafficking, all Level 3 felonies, and dissemination of matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 felony.

The Indiana State Police urge parents to monitor their children’s online activity and educate them on the dangers of online predators.
