Kenny Dale Hutchinson ‘Hutch’

February 8, 1952 – March 24, 2025

Hutch, 73, of Bedford, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at 3:44 p.m. at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after losing his battle to myasthenia gravis with complications.

He was surrounded by his children, future daughter-in-law, and daughter’s best friend. Born February 8, 1952, he was the son of Kenneth Hutchinson and Phyllis (Chastain) Luttrell. He was raised by his grandparents, Clyde Earnest and Essie Elizabeth (Hoar) Hutchinson, until Clyde’s passing in 1980. He then spent his young adulthood in Florida with his mother, where he got his first job bouncing. While in Florida, he gained landscaping experience, earning the deep tan he has so proudly kept his entire life.

After enough of the Florida sun, he returned home to Indiana, where he proudly worked for his dad, Kenneth, at the 7-UP Bottling Plant until its closure.

Hutch graduated from Bedford High School in 1970, where he ran track. He loved sports and played, coached, and spectated with anyone who would join. He was a youth coach, specifically for his children, and a public volunteer whenever needed. He would give you the shoes off his feet if you needed them. He was a man of Christian faith with no home church but would happily attend anywhere given an invitation.

He was married April 17, 1993, and had two children, Amanda Elizabeth Hutchinson and Evan Kenny Hutchinson, before divorcing in 2004. He spent many years after his divorce becoming a jack of all trades; including buying, selling, and trading collectables as well as many small businesses, auctioneering (Hutch’s Back 40), and having his ice cream shop (Cone Heads in Mitchell, IN) to fund his many other dreams such as restoring his old car collection and making woodworks in his massive wood shop.

Survivors who will cherish the memory of Kenny are his daughter, Amanda E. Hutchinson; son, Evan Kenny Hutchinson and Fiancée Shannon Fetterly-Phares; siblings, Kent Hutchinson, Kathy Hammel, Kurt (Debbie) Hutchinson, Kevin (Teresa) Hutchinson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Hutchinson and Phyllis Chastain; stepmother, Norma Jean (Turner) Hutchinson; and one half-brother, Terry ‘Chopper’ Marsh.

Hutch’s funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferguson- Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Clarence Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
