WASHINGTON – Jonathon Thomas, 24, of Evansville, has been arrested and charged with Level 1 Felony child molestation following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred at East Side Park on Wednesday, March 26.
Detectives from the Washington Police Department (WPD), in collaboration with the Department of Children Services, responded to a report from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office concerning the alleged assault.
The investigation revealed that Thomas, while employed as a service provider for a minor child, had assaulted the child under his care. Police emphasized that Thomas was not an employee of the Department of Children Services but of another agency.
Following an intensive investigation, Thomas was located at his residence in Evansville and taken into custody.
The WPD Detective Division expressed gratitude to the following agencies for their invaluable assistance in the investigation and arrest: WPD Patrol Officers, WPD CSI, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, Indiana State Police Evansville/Jasper Districts, Daviess County Prosecutor Office, Daviess County DCS, Daviess County Central Dispatch, Southwest Indiana Regional Child Advocacy Center Coalition, Daviess Community Hospital, and St. Vincent’s Ascension Hospital.
