Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market celebrates 51st season, opens with new hours and live music

BLOOMINGTON – The beloved Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market (BCFM) is back for its 51st season, promising a vibrant gathering of local farmers, artisans, and community members. With a rich history of supporting local agriculture and fostering community connections, the market is set to kick off another exciting season.

The BCFM, a cornerstone of Bloomington’s local food culture, will feature various goods from the farm and field, including fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats, cheeses, honey, seasonal flowers, and plants. Food and beverage artisans will also offer delectable breads, drinks, pastries, and savory dishes.

This year, market-goers should note a slight change in hours: the market will now run from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The BCFM is more than just a place to buy groceries; it’s a place to connect with your community, support local businesses, and experience the best of what Bloomington and the surrounding area offer.

Nicholas Graham-Hall

Adding to the festive atmosphere of the opening day, Singer/Songwriter Nicholas Graham-Hall will be kicking off the 2025 performance season on the Market’s Circular Stage. He will perform two sets, the first from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and the second from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Graham-Hall’s music provides a unique opportunity to share stories “in a couple of hundred words and a few chords,” as he puts it, with most of his autobiographical songs.

Mayor Kerry Thomson

The Mayor’s Team at the Table is a community outreach program that invites market-goers to interact with the mayor and various City of Bloomington department heads. Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson will greet the public at the market at 10 a.m. and Noon this week.

This market isn’t just about excellent goods—it’s about bringing people together and creating a space where everyone belongs. We have special events and new offerings each week, including live music, so there’s always something new to discover.

The Farmers’ Market Advisory Council (FMAC), representing vendors, customers, and food and beverage artisans, plays a vital role in advising market policies. The next FMAC meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to bring friends and family to the market’s opening this Saturday, to enjoy the fresh produce, delicious food, live music, and the unique sense of community that makes the BCFM a Bloomington staple.
