Stars baseball team will host annual Stars vs. Cancer Game to benefit Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services Apr. 28

BEDFORD– The Bedford North Lawrence (BNL) Stars baseball team is set to host its 11th annual Stars vs. Cancer game on April 28, aiming to raise at least $6,000 for Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services. This year’s event focuses on Ewing Sarcoma and childhood cancer, continuing the team’s mission to support local patients and their families.

The special night will take place at the BNL Stars baseball field, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the game against the Shakamak Lakers beginning at 6 p.m. A highlight of the evening will be the “Surround the Mound” event before the first pitch, where cancer survivors and caregivers will be invited onto the field for recognition. The ceremony will include a moment of silence, a balloon release, the national anthem, and a ceremonial first pitch.

All proceeds from the game will stay within the Lawrence County community to assist cancer patients in need. The team is offering multiple sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals to show their support:

  • $50-$149: Business/family name placed on a banner displayed at the event, throughout the rest of the season, and in seasons to come.
  • $150-$299: Includes banner recognition plus a team picture in this year’s BNL Stars vs. Cancer uniform.
  • $300 and up: Includes banner recognition, a team picture, an autographed baseball used during the game, and an in-game announcement as a sponsor.
  • In Memory of/In Honor of Sponsorship: For $50, a friend or family member will be honored on the banner with their respective cancer ribbon and their name, along with the sponsor’s name.

Those interested in sponsoring or donating can complete the sponsorship form and make checks payable to “Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services” or “LCCPS.” Forms and payments should be mailed or delivered to Jacey Chastain at 2437 Lucy Lane, Bedford, IN, 47421. The deadline for all sponsor and donation submissions is Wednesday, April 16.

The BNL Stars encourage the community to attend and participate in this meaningful event to help make a difference in the lives of local cancer patients.
