BLOOMINGTON— The Griffy Lake Boathouse opens with watercraft rentals and launch permit sales on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The Griffy Lake Boathouse is open on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of April. Boathouse summer hours begin May 1; the boathouse is open daily from May 1 through Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The boathouse is open through the end of October, with hours shifting from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily in September to weekends only in October.

The boathouse is open rain or shine but will close temporarily if lightning is in the area or if the water level in Griffy Lake rises enough to interfere with safe watercraft launching. If the weather is inclement, call the Griffy Lake Boathouse at 812-349-3732 to confirm the hours of operation.
Private watercraft at Griffy Lake are limited to electric trolling motors only. Launching is available only at the designated boat ramp east of the boathouse. All privately owned watercraft launching at Griffy Lake, including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and inflatables, require a boat launch permit. Launch permits are $10/day or $100 for an annual permit and may be purchased at the boathouse with cash, check, or credit card.
Griffy Lake is stocked with bluegill, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and crappie. A valid Indiana fishing license is required to fish at Griffy Lake. The boathouse does not sell fishing licenses; purchase one online or at your favorite fishing supply retailer.
