Man arrested for allegedly threatening to bind and set woman on fire

LAWRENCE CO. – A Bedford man was arrested on a charge of intimidation after allegedly making threatening comments to a woman.

According to an affidavit for probable cause filed with the Lawrence County Police Department on March 24, 2025, Deputy D. Miller spoke with a woman who reported receiving threats from 54-year-old George Haynes.

The woman stated that she has been experiencing ongoing issues with Haynes, including constant arguments and threats, and that she fears for her life.  

The affidavit details an incident on the morning of March 24, 2025, during which George Haynes allegedly told the woman that he was going to tie her up and burn her alive in bed. At the time of the report, the woman was staying with her son in Bedford. She also reported that Haynes had been making Facebook posts about going on a killing spree.  

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
