Mitchell man arrested for violating no-contact order through Instagram

LAWRENCE CO. – A Mitchell man was arrested after police said he violated a protective order.

Police arrested Ashton Beavers, 32, on a charge of invasion of privacy.

According to an affidavit for probable cause filed with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, a woman came to the Sheriff’s Department on August 31, 2024. She said that Beavers had been contacting her through her Instagram account since June in violation of a protective order.

The woman reportedly did not reply to the messages, but they continued to be sent from an account bearing Ashton Beavers’ name.

The reporting officer, Bailey Duprey, stated in the affidavit that attempts to contact Beavers have been unsuccessful due to a lack of current contact or address information. The affidavit notes that photographs of the messages with dates after the protection order was served have been included as evidence.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
