NORTH VERNON – Zane Thompson recorded a victory in the 300 hurdles as Bedford North Lawrence finished fourth in the IHSAA boys track sectional at Jennings County on Thursday.
The Stars totaled 71.5 points. Seymour won the team title with 122 points, followed by Jennings County (119) and Springs Valley (98). The top three in each event advanced to the regional at Bloomington North on May 27.
Thompson crossed the line first in 41.18 seconds. He also teamed with Noah Carter, Isaac Williams and Will Decker to finish second in the 1600 relay in 3:37.57. Mitchell won that thrilling race in 3:37.34.
Carter was the other regional qualifier for the Stars as he finished second in the 110 high hurdles in 15.81. Seymour’s Josh Pennington won that event in 15.41.
Other notable BNL performances included the 400 relay (fourth in 45.83), Williams (fourth in the 800 in 2:08.58), Brecken Helsley (fourth in the discus at 120-0) and Austin Messmore (fourth in the shot put at 42-3).
The top three finishers in the regional with qualify for the state finals on June 4 at Ben Davis.
