STINESVILLE – In partnership with the Town of Stinesville, Indiana Landmarks invites any and all qualified parties to submit proposals to fully rehabilitate four historic one-story commercial buildings on Stinesville’s Main Street. The limestone-clad buildings were constructed between 1886 and 1894 and are each listed in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Stinesville Commercial Historic District, a designation that makes them eligible for rehabilitation tax credits. The buildings embody the rich history of the local limestone industry and subsequent growth in the town in the late nineteenth century. There are financial incentives available to restore the structures.
The Town is willing to sell the buildings for $1.00 to a party that will stabilize and restore all four buildings. Ideal uses for the structure include live-work space, event space, restaurant/retail space, or maker space for artisans or craftspeople.
Indiana Landmarks and the Town will review proposals, which will be evaluated on the applicant’s experience, qualifications, financial responsibility, capacity to undertake the project, and the appropriateness of the rehabilitation plan.
