BARTHOLOMEW CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP plans to begin work as soon as Wednesday, April 20, on a $5.7 million asphalt resurfacing project on U.S. 31 in Columbus. The contractor will patch, mill, and repave U.S. 31 between Washington Street and Base Road.
Motorists should expect both day and nighttime lane closures. Resurface work will take place overnight, between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Crews will remove and replace curb ramps throughout project limits during the day, starting at Washington Street and moving south, one block at a time.
Intermittent flagging and restrictions are possible on intersecting side streets during the project. Motorists should also be aware of rough pavement and changes to signal timings due to milling operations. Crews will be active Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Milestone in March and has a completion date of October 30, 2022.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
