MADISON – Madison rallied from early deficits in the first two sets and swept Bedford North Lawrence during high school volleyball action on Monday night.
The Cubs (13-14) posted a 25-23, 25-20, 25-13 victory. The Stars slipped to 2-19.
“We played great volleyball and came out strong early, led both games,” BNL coach Whitney Carroll said. “We get to the middle of the game and check out. They started producing kills, we didn’t answer back and game over.
“We cannot consistently produce enough kills (only 22 total). What that doesn’t show is our front row moving it around really well with freshman setter Trinidy Bailey quickly stepping into her new varsity role and running quicks and slides out of the middle, adjusting well to this level of play.
“We fight, we play hard, until we don’t. As a coach I can’t make them have the want-to. I have some girls who give their all every point. The others choose when they want to play. It’s really frustrating as a coach and for those girls giving their all every ball. We are getting better every game, their skill is there. But until we show up for every point, we won’t be successful.”
BNL will host Seymour (in a preview of the Class 4A sectional opener at Jeffersonville next week) and celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday.
