BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) will be hosting Gather ‘round the Table for an Accessible Journey on Monday, November 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Monroe Convention Center.
Join them as they explore this year’s theme, traveling with a disability. Registration to attend the event is available at https://bton.in/byi2l.
The event will feature a panel of CCA members with a range of disabilities who have traveled far and wide, from overseas, to big cities, to state parks, and more. All attendees will have the opportunity to talk about their travels, what some of the challenges of traveling with a disability are, and what to expect in terms of accessibility upon arrival at a destination.
In addition to the speakers, there will be roundtable discussions and an accessibility-focused trip-planning exercise. Everyone will come away with ideas on how to make trips easier to navigate. Some delightful fare from around the world will be served to enhance the experience.
We invite people who work in the travel industry to join us to hear about the humane ways that people with disabilities want the travel industry to treat their bodies and their mobility aids. A recent report says that disabled travelers spend $58 billion a year and want better access!
