The city of Seymour gives tornado sirens to the Town of Medora

MEDORA – Thanks to the generosity of Seymour officials the Town of Medora will now have tornado sirens.

During the Seymour Board of Public Works and Safety, Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas asked for permission to donate two sirens that were replaced in Seymour and are still in good working condition but now excess inventory to the Town of Medora.

The Town of Medora has never had a tornado siren.

The Board approved the donation unanimously.

Medora Community School Corporation provided a spot for a siren near the FFA building across from George Street. The school corporation will provide the electrical service to the siren.

George Berry with Jackson County REMC recently set the pole for the siren.

Duane Davis, director of Jackson County Emergency Management Agency, will help pay the cost of installing the siren and getting it operational. Electronic Communications Systems of Bloomington will be doing that work.
