BEDFORD – Newly elected Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day introduced his leadership team during the commissioners’ meeting Tuesday morning.
Serving as Day’s Chief Deputy is Tony Siedl.
“His experience and leadership abilities will have a lasting positive effect on our community, the department, and every officer/employee that works beside him,” said Day.
Siedl retired from the FBI where he has successfully investigated every type of crime imaginable. His investigative skills are legendary. He served 4 years as Chief Deputy here in Lawrence County under former Sheriff Craig.
Third, in command is Major Brandon Blackwell.
Chief Matron is Karen Bean. She has worked with the department for more than eight years.
Jail Commander is Andrew Lynn.
The administrative assistant is Jean Wires.
Sheriff Day began his duties at midnight on January 1.
“Both Tony and I were in the office at midnight and put in 12 to 13 hours,” said Day. “And we have put in those many hours every day since. I want to thank Sheriff Mike Branham for the smooth transition he went above and beyond and I am more prepared because of him. I am still learning but I feel really good about how things are going. I have goals and visions and we will get those things accomplished.”
The first step is to get the jail and Central Dispatch fully staffed.
Day also presented the commissioner with the commissary report.
“This is the biggest savings to the county,” Day added. “I don’t think people realize that commissary funds save the county around half a million not coming from taxpayers’ pockets.”
The largest expense from commissary funds was the purchase of a police vehicle.
