BEDFORD – Lawrence County Purdue Extension is offering a ServSafe Food Manager class and examination on March 17.
This course will prepare participants to take the Certified Professional Food Manager certification exam. The class will meet at StoneGate Arts & Education Center in Bedford. The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the exam at 5 p.m.
ServSafe Food Protection Manager is the highest certification for food service workers. This course will prepare individuals to take and pass the multiple-choice certification exam.
The course focuses on five aspects:
• Foodborne microorganisms and allergens
• Personal hygiene
• Purchasing, receiving, and storage
• Preparing, cooking, and serving
• Facilities, cleaning/sanitation, and managing pests
Upon successful completion of the exam, participants will receive a certification and their names will be added to the National Registry of Food Managers. The certification is valid for five years.
The course fee is $165 and includes the manual and exam. The exam only is $65.
