BEDFORD – Members of the North Lawrence Community Schools board voted Thursday to approve various personnel changes, including the appointment of Steve Underwood as the district’s interim assistant superintendent.
Underwood has recently served as the district’s interim superintendent after the board agreed to buy out the contract of former superintendent Ty Mungle in January.
The board has now voted to extend Underwood’s agreement to serve as interim superintendent through Feb. 16, when it was originally supposed to end on Feb. 1.
NLCS board president Wendy Miller said the extension was offered to Underwood because he has continued to serve in his capacity beyond the initial end date of Feb. 1, as an aid to James Halik, who started with the district as interim superintendent on Feb. 1.
In the coming months, Halik will help the district find a long-term fit for the position, with NLCS currently accepting applications until Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
