BEDFORD – A Corydon man was arrested early this morning after a 911 call reporting a suspicious man at Steak N’ Shake on James Avenue.
The caller reported the man was wearing a red sweatshirt and was not wearing shoes. The man was said to have been bothering people and knocking on the drive-thru window while loitering in the parking lot for hours.
When Bedford Police arrived they located 49-year-old Aaron Hoskins in the parking lot. When he saw the officers he pulled out his identification and began waving it at the officers.
Hoskins told police he had gotten his truck stuck in the grass at Wilson Park and walked to Steak N’ Shake for “road assistance.”
Police say Hoskins was “speaking very rapidly and would often ramble about information. He also appeared to be slightly fidgety and had dilated pupils which are all common symptoms of stimulant drug use such as methamphetamine”.
Hoskins consented to have his person searched but nothing illegal was found.
He did admit he had last used “meth and antipsychotics approximately six days ago.” He later admitted he had used marijuana and Seroquel earlier in the day.
An officer drove Hoskins to Wilson Park to locate his truck. While another officer stayed to speak to employees.
An employee told police Hoskins had knocked on the drive-through window numerous times wanting to use the phone to call for a ride and then saying he needed to go to the hospital. Another employee was fearful because of Hoskins’ behavior.
After arriving at Wilson Park, an officer found Hoskins’ 1997 maroon Chevrolet S-10 pickup.
The vehicle was stopped in the grass and it appeared to have been driven through, and there was a large amount of rut damage left from the vehicle’s tires. The vehicle was towed by Jackson’s Wrecker service.
Hoskin was detained on charges of public intoxication and criminal mischief.
