BEDFORD – A Clifford woman was arrested on Saturday after a Bedford Police Officer noticed a white Scion traveling south on M Street with a large crack in the windshield on the driver’s side.
The officer ran a check on the temporary license plate on the vehicle and learned the registered owner was a habitual traffic violator.
At 4:52 p.m. the officer stopped the vehicle near 22nd and M streets.
The officer spoke to the driver 39-year-old Stephanie McKenzie, of Clifford. She told the officer her ex had broke the windshield and she was waiting on insurance to get it fixed.
She told police she was taking her passenger to Transitions Medical.
Both McKenzie and her passengers consented to allow the officer to search the vehicle, but McKenzie seemed hesitant, police said.
The officer’s canine partner Zazu conducted a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and alerted police to possible narcotics inside.
In the vehicle, police found a glass smoking device with meth residue in the driver’s cup holder.
In McKenzie’s purse, an officer located a clear plastic baggy containing crystal meth.
In her passenger’s pocket, an officer found a glass smoking device with THC wax inside.
Mckenzie was arrested on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
