INDIANA – Between April and November, the Indiana State Library will present 11 “Every Child Ready to Read and School Readiness in Storytime” in-person trainings.
The workshop will introduce attendees to the Every Child Ready to Read program- as well as to the basic tenants of the Reimagining School Readiness program – and discuss ways to encourage reading and school readiness during storytime. T
he interactive workshop will also provide participants with concrete examples for using Every Child Ready to Read in their libraries and will include crowdsourcing and brainstorming. Storytime practitioners are encouraged to reflect on their storytime favorites (e.g., books, songs, rhymes, etc.) before the workshop and come prepared to share.
Workshops will take place on the following dates at the following locations:
- April 26: Monroe County Public Library – Ellettsville Branch
- May 4: Jasper County Public Library – Wheatfield Branch
- Aug. 25: Jennings County Public Library
- Aug. 31: Peru Public Library
- Sept. 7: Crawfordsville Public Library
- Sept. 21: Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library
- Oct. 5: St. Joe County Public Library
- Oct. 11: Johnson County Public Library – Clark Pleasant Branch
- Oct. 17: Anderson Public Library
- Nov. 2: Noble County Public Library
- Nov. 17: Dubois County Public Library – Jasper Branch
All workshops will take place 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. local time. The workshop is eligible for three LEUs for Indiana library staff. Visit the Indiana State Library’s Events Calendar to register for any of the above dates.
