Intoxicated man arrested after a head-on collision, injuring another person

MITCHELL – On March 31, around 10:40 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Bailey Duprey responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash in the 6000 block of State Road 60 West.

During the investigation, it was determined that 20-year-old Elijah Sullivan, of Bedford, had been traveling west on State Road 60 West, when he crossed the centerline, striking an eastbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, Nikki Bundy, had to be freed from the wreckage and was transported for treatment of serious injuries.

Police say Sullivan had been consuming alcoholic beverages and tested almost twice the legal limit on a certified breath test.

Officer Duprey arrested Sullivan on charges of OWI endangerment resulting in serious bodily injury.

Officer Duprey was assisted by Lawrence County Officer Clifford Pruett and Mitchell Police Officer Kenton Carter.
