Woman arrested on OWI charges after failing field sobriety tests

MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested on Monday, April 3 after a Mitchell Police officer responded to a report of an erratic driver in a green Jeep in the area of 9th and Crawford streets.

Officer Kenton Carter spotted the vehicle traveling east on Grissom Avenue at 6th Street. Officer Carter stopped the driver 45-year-old Teresa Klein as she turned into the gas station at 814 Main Street.

Klein told police she was going to a friend’s house on College Avenue. Police say Klien’s speech was slurred. She was asked to step out of the vehicle. Police say she was unsteady on her feet, but she denied she had been drinking. She failed several field sobriety tests. She blew a 0.177 on a preliminary breath test.

Klein was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction.
