LOUISVILLE, KY. – A gunman opened fire at a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday morning, killing four people and sending at least eight to the hospital including two officers before the suspect was killed at the scene, said Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey.
One of those officers is in critical condition.
The mass shooting began at about 8:30 a.m. at the Old National Bank on East Main Street, in Louisville.
Officers arrived on the scene within three minutes of the first 911 call and found the shooter still firing.
Police and the gunman exchanged fire. The suspect died at the scene. It was unclear if he was killed by an officer or died of a self-inflicted gunshot, he said.
The shooter was a former employee of the bank, according to police.
