MITCHELL – The Mitchell City Council voted on Monday to approve the city’s curb appeal project, which allows residents to apply for reimbursements for home improvement projects.
Each resident is eligible to receive a 50% reimbursement on projects up to $1,000, meaning the most one could receive back would be $500.
Each project must be an improvement that boosts the home’s curb appeal, meaning it must be visible from the street or sidewalk. Additionally, the home must be occupied by the owner and the applicant’s income cannot exceed $100,000 annually.
Residents are only eligible to receive funds from the project once every 12 months.
Each project must receive pre-approval to be eligible for reimbursement. Application forms will soon be available at City Hall, as well as on the city’s website .
There is a total of $10,000 available for the project, provided to the city by the Industrial Park Board. Once those funds are depleted, the city could pursue potentially pursue grants to continue the program.
